WE'RE OPENING FOR WILCO!!!!!!
We just got the official news from the Wilco office yesterday that we've been added as support for Wilco at the Temple Theatre in Meridian on March 15th. GET YOUR TICKETS NOW! They are likely to sell out soon if they haven't already. (You have to call the Temple Theatre to order tickets 601-693-5353.)
After corresponding with Pat Sansone, who joined Wilco last year, about looking forward to his "homecoming" show in Meridian, we were suprised when he told us that the support position for the show had recently come open and that we could have the slot if we wanted it. Well, of course we had to think about it for a while and check and double check our schedules but eventually we said "F*** YEAH!!!"
We can't thank Pat enough for such a cool opportunity. So come out and see a Mississippi boy from the Hattiesburg music scene who done REAL GOOD and come support us on this very special occasion. We hope to see all of our Buffalo Nickel friends there. It's going to be an awesome night.

El Camino Gets Major Label Treatment
The song El Camino, which appears on Buffalo Nickel's first album UP ON BLOCKS, has recently been recorded by the San Antonio band 10 City Run and will make its major label debut on the band's upcoming release for Universal South in February.
We first heard the good news when 10 City Run's producer, John Beland of The Flyin' Burrito Brothers, contacted us requesting the publishing information for El Camino.
In corresponding with both Beland and 10 City Run, we talked about Emily and how proud she would be to know that a Flyin' Burrito Brother had not only listened to her song but had produced it as well and that a band on the same label as Marty Stuart and Shooter Jennings had recorded it.
They were very gracious in paying respect to Emily and after having heard her story they posted a small biography / tribute to her and her music on their website at www.10cityrun.com.
After having discovered El Camino on MP3.com three years ago, 10 City Run added it to their set and have been playing Emily's song at their shows ever since. During that three year span they have really made the song their own and its worth a listen. Watch for their new album due out in February '06.
We're very happy to know that Emily's music really does have a life of its own and that as time goes by more and more people are discovering what a great talent she really was. EMILY ROCKS!

We got our picture took with Junior Brown

We had a blast at the Old Time Festival last weekend. We got to meet Junior Brown, some of us for the first time. And after having told Junior that Twangalang, one of the songs on our new album, is about him he suprised us during our live rendition of the song by jumping up on stage and playing air guitar along with us. Hopefully we'll have the video of that up soon. He's an incredible performer who you should absolutely see live. Props to his band as well. Who knew that a snare drum solo could be so riveting? |

"Lucinda Williams" featured on ARKANSONGS Radio Program
Recently, Buffalo Nickel's song "Lucinda Williams," written by our dear friend Emily Graham, was featured on an Arkansaw radio program called ARKANSONGS. It's a short but interesting show about three songs titled "LUCINDA WILLIAMS," including one by Vic Chesnutt. Stephen Koch at KUAR did a great job putting this show together. It's definitely worth a listen.
